Here in UK faces that hadn't been seen for a while turned up the following Sunday.
Hushed talk that his was the beginning of the big A was rife but a month later numbers were back to normal and speculation suppressed.
it was shocking.. all these years later, i found myself crying for the dead for the first time..

i had two episodes of visiting exjw websites:one time around 2007 when i just googled "jehovah´s witnesses" and dared to look at those sites.
i was scared and i promised myself i would never come back to them.
however, that one didn´t really count.the moment that woke me up was this:i got to know that whitney heichel was a jw and murdered by another jw, because i overheard that conversation in a kingdom hall.i looked up the news and in one of the news comments, there was one where an exjw was complaining that they were hijacking her funeral and they were really trying to downplay the fact that her murderer was a jw... and then it said "visit jwfacts.com"... which i did.and the rest... is history.what exactly got you onto an apostate website when you woke up?
I think it was the Watchtower Lies website I first stumbled across back in 2008. The plagiarized front covers and pictures that were clearly stolen and originally from other's work showed me Watchtower might not be as squeaky clean as they claimed.
I was then shocked by the Jimmy Swaggert story as I remembered literature becoming donations only and finding out the real reason that changed disappointed me. Why they had to spin it into something it wasn't I have no idea.
607 was next and I also came here but it all seemed too brutal and I found a much more gentle UK site which you had to pay to join. I met quite a lot of the members from that site and we met at Xmas several years running which was nice but it was overtaken by spammers and then a born again christian type called Stephen who was a nasty piece of work and would make it unpleasant to visit. The site was eventually closed down. It wasn't a place to necessarily find facts about JWdom it was more of a social site to make friends and get support.
Now the only websites I visit are this one for company and jwfacts if I want to know something specific.
just a fun idea inspired by seth andrews latest podcast (the thinking atheist).
ask a believer if they agree with the following statements of faith:.
one should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.. the struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.. one’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.. the freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend.
I asked a couple with a cart about why if everything was so good even before humans God let an asteroid kill off the dinosaurs. They knew nothing about an asteroid and one claimed they all died at the flood and the other claimed God "phased them out"!
as you probably know "the children act" is a film starring emma thompson as a high court judge deciding whether or not to transfuse a teen jw.
it is due to be on general release in the uk on august 24th 2018. september 14th usa.. its shortened trailer is being advertised in the uk on the biggest independent tv channel - namely itv - at prime time.
just seen it in advertisment breaks between 6pm and 7pm uk time.. thought you might like to know..
I went to see it and felt it was a very good representation of the JW thinking and mindset.
g. was binge watching on amazon prime the serie the man on the high castle.
because my interest in history subjects a good choice!
what i mentioned was the family of john smith, the obergruppenfuhrer.
I've only just started watching this. It's very atmospheric, the characters are very believable and overall the atmosphere is quite chilling.
since i have been out for seventeen years what is the currant society policy concerning beards and mustaches.. in the sixties and seventies facial hair was forbidden at bethel if you white.
if you were black you could have mustache but no beards.
so obviously you could not be elder or pioneer if you had a beard.. any updates?
Brothers didn't have to wear ties on field service in Spain. The reasoning was illegal immigrants wouldn't hear the message as only authority figures wore ties out there and they would deter them from listening.
Personally, I think the elder who made that rule up (corrupt in many other ways) just didnt like ties himself so made it ok to remove them. The other brothers kept theirs on.
do you remember those families where all the sons and daughters had weird biblical names?.
i recall a " machlon" , "eunice" , even a "jehosafath".
can you believe it..
We had a Zipporah in our congregation. Zippi for short.
supposedly the society sent a letter out on march 14, 1997 to all elders contained an instruction that inadvertently admitted they had a big problem: “the body of elders should give the society a report on anyone serving or who formerly served in a society-appointed position in your congregation who is known to have been guilty of child molestation in the past.” .
can anyone here confirm/or not that this was a real letter that was sent to elders?.
"A consenting minor"!!!!
There is no such thing. They made that up. A minor cannot consent because.......they are a minor.
Under 16 its rape.
since leaving the jw's after over 4 decades, i can see exactly what it is and hate everything it stands for.
however, there are still some jw habits and traits that i can't get rid of:.
1. i can't swear in general conversation (i'd have to be really angry).
I know I still struggle with black or white and all or nothing kind of thinking but everything else is done and dusted with now.
for shits and grins, i looked at an online sunday meeting a few days ago on youtube.
i was in disbelieve on just how silly everything looks with the watchtower reader reading from his little iphone and the watchtower conductor holding up his iphone to ask the questions.
then the conductor asked the reader to read a bible verse and of course, he reads from his little phone.
I got counselled by an elder for reading my bible on my computer back in the late 90s. He informed me I could not get Holy Spirit from a computer only from a proper Bible.
I've been out so long I'm wondering if rank and file even get their own portion of Holy Spirit still or is it all reserved exclusively for the GB now?
